First-year Mechanical Engineering student, AGH University of Krakow

How did you find AGH University?
I did extensive research to identify universities and countries suitable for me considering tuition, diploma recognition, academic reputation, and university rankings. I also checked whether the university had a Mechanical Engineering programme (because it was the only field of study that interested me), whether it was a technical university, etc. Poland was the best option. AGH University had the best ranking among the universities I applied to, which is why it was my first choice. How did studying at AGH University change your life?
It has only been about two months since I came to Poland and started my studies, but my life has already changed a lot. This is my first time studying at a university, so it is my first time experiencing this kind of life. I have to find a balance between my social life, studies, hobbies, etc. I am now also a member of the AGH Racing team. My goal was to develop practical skills, so a racing team was one of the first things I looked for when looking for a university.
Who would you recommend studying at the AGH University of Krakow to, and why?
From my research and experience so far, AGH University is a great fit for people who want a solid technical foundation. It is especially good for students who value practical experience alongside theory, because there are plenty of research clubs, projects, and laboratories. If someone is interested in engineering, science, or technology and wants a degree that is well-recognised internationally, which are the reasons why I applied for it, AGH University is a strong choice.
What do you like most about AGH University? What surprised you?
What I like the most is the environment. I was surprised by the welcoming nature of the student community. I am a foreigner in the first year of study, so I was a little nervous at first, but everyone is friendly and tries to help when they can. I was also surprised at how active the student organisations are. There is always something happening, be it academic, social or project-related.
Is AGH University a university of innovators? Could you provide evidence to support this claim?
AGH University is a university of innovators, and my best proof are the university’s projects and student research clubs, such as AGH Racing which competes internationally and wins competitions with their craft and engineering work.
What does being innovative mean to you?
It means making changes, technological improvements, discoveries, and tools for the betterment of humankind. To me, it is kind of like the Japanese philosophy "kaizen" that is built on continuous improvement. Magda Tytuła
